Joan Ribot

Thirty years behind the lens.

At sixteen, Joan hitchhiked across Europe with a simple Yashica rangefinder — and fell in love with photography.

He bought his first reflex, a Nikon FM, while playing professional basketball in the ACB and assisting advertising photographers in Zaragoza and Barcelona. He later ran his own studio in Barcelona for nine years, shooting for Avon, Banc Sabadell, BASF, Braun, Roca, the Barcelona Olympic Committee and many more.

He then spent twelve years in Düsseldorf as camera operator, director of photography and producer — television commercials for C&A and Ford, documentaries for RTL and NDR, and corporate films for Coca-Cola, DB Schenker and Telekom.

Now back in Barcelona, he keeps pace with every new technology for capturing light and image. He speaks Catalan, Spanish, English and German.
